A PGCE will give you greater communication, interpersonal, presentation and teaching skills. You are looking at least 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time. Many universities and colleges throughout the UK offer a PGCE and it is possible to do a distance learning course. Many teachers go on to have a wonderful career in the teaching profession because working with young people is what they are passionate about. Every day they are literally changing lives. They are moulding the next generation. So teaching is one of the noble professions. You must also be aware that many teachers leave the teaching profession due to a number of reasons including the following. - Beauracracy and Paperwork
- Lack of discipline in the their school
- Behaviour and attitude of students
Please do not let this put you off. You MUST do your own research. Get work experience in tough schools so you get a feel for the challenges it might give you in your career. Ask lots of questions of other teachers.
