Our College participated in both Pump Up the Volume and the Genesis eXperience two weeks ago and the effect has been fantastic. A small group of very un-motivated Year 11 boys took a dramatic turn for the better and have knuckled down and finished their GCSE coursework in the nick of time. This has lead to them raising their predicted grades by at least a grade. Something that three weeks ago seemed too much too hope for. The Genesis group are also still thinking positively and smiling two weeks after the event and are confident about the coming exams. "What a difference a day makes!"
Pump up the Volume and The Genesis eXperience
The (Genesis eXperience) programme gives the vast majority of our young people serious food for thought. I have seen many of our learners make a quantum leap increase in motivation to change their "lot in life" and have gone on to find sustained employment. I regularly get quotes from young people who have been on the programme along the lines of; "although 75 % of working people are in jobs that they don't like, I know I can start at the bottom and work up". Excellent - best staff development programme ever. The most enjoyable, interesting, thought-provoking training day that I have attended in a long time. Will help with my teaching dyslexic students who often lack confidence but who are open to different ideas. This can seriously change your life - for the better. I found the session very thought-provoking and uplifting and intend to read further. Made me more determined to succeed and be aware of what I can achieve. Your activities have had a significant positive effect (on our students) Helped me to be more positive about myself and better able to motivate students, particularly those of low self-esteem. There is so much scope within each and every one of us and this session reminded me that I knew this but had forgotten! A stimulating programme which provokes thought and debate. Very visual and evocative. A very worthwhile two days highlighting the importance of being creative with young people who lack confidence and motivation. It was interesting and the marriage of technology, philosophy and psychology was innovative. If you want something that will make you think and are open to new ideas then try this. A good tool which used in the right hands could change a young person's perception and direction in life. Could be a life-saver! It was a really enjoyable, relaxed programme, that made you think about yourself and attitude to others. It was delivered in a non-threatening manner. It has made me feel more positive about furthering myself. Your programme will help me with my teaching strategies and personal motivation. Your drive and enthusiasm was contagious! I feel certain that all the delegates present went away from the meeting feeling very positive.
